TOKYO ARRIVAL GUIDE · 3 HOTELS
Your first stop.
Without the luggage puzzle.
Arriving in Shinjuku with large suitcases? Start with where your airport bus actually drops you off. A hotel stop and a terminal nearby can make for very different arrivals.

Which Shinjuku hotel fits your airport arrival?
For a hotel-stop bus route, shortlist Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo and Hotel Century Southern Tower. If you are comfortable finishing on foot, JR Kyushu Hotel Blossom Shinjuku is another option near Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal, also called Busta Shinjuku. The official route links below explain each approach.
This is an access-focused shortlist from our Shinjuku hotel research, rather than a ranking of rooms or a hands-on transfer test. Check the service for your airport, terminal and travel date before choosing a hotel around it.
| Hotel | Arrival route covered here | What to check first |
|---|---|---|
| Keio Plaza | Airport bus → hotel stop | A departure that serves the hotel |
| Southern Tower | Airport bus → 1F entrance | Hotel stop versus Busta stop |
| JR Kyushu Blossom | Airport bus → Busta → walk | Terminal-to-hotel walking route |
ROUTE 01 / HOTEL STOP
Prefer to finish the bus ride at your hotel?
A hotel stop can remove the outdoor walk from a city terminal. It is particularly worth comparing when one person is managing several bags. The trade-off is timing: a convenient stop only helps if the bus serves it when you need to travel.
Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo
- Airport terminal
- Bus to Keio Plaza
- Hotel arrival
Keio Plaza lists direct limousine bus services connecting the hotel with both Haneda and Narita, with separate timetable links for each direction. Its rail alternative is a stated five-minute walk from Shinjuku Station’s West Exit. Official access and airport timetables.
Choose it for: a hotel-stop arrival if the schedule matches your flight. When checking the ticket, look for the hotel’s full name as the destination; a general Shinjuku service may leave you elsewhere.
Hotel Century Southern Tower
- Airport terminal
- Hotel entrance, 1F
- Reception, 20F
The hotel’s access page lists Haneda and Narita limousine bus services at its first-floor entrance. It also identifies Busta Shinjuku, a stated three-minute walk away, as an alternative. Official airport routes and timetables.
Reception is on the 20th floor, and the hotel says it does not operate a free airport shuttle. Official hotel FAQ.
Choose it for: comparing a hotel-stop service with a terminal-and-walk option. Check which stop your selected departure actually uses before paying.
ROUTE 02 / TERMINAL + WALK
Happy to roll your bags a little farther?
A short final walk can widen your hotel choices. Save the route before you fly, and allow time to find the terminal exit before you start counting the walking minutes.
JR Kyushu Hotel Blossom Shinjuku
- Airport terminal
- Busta Shinjuku
- Walk to the hotel
The hotel gives a three-minute walk from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal and publishes a photographed route from the terminal’s third-floor arrival area. It also lists a three-minute walk from Shinjuku Station’s South Exit. Official terminal and station walking guide.
Choose it for: a terminal arrival when a short walk suits your group. The bus route described here finishes at Busta; you still need to take your luggage to the hotel.
BEFORE YOU PACK
Can you take two large suitcases on the airport bus?
Airport Transport Service’s published limousine bus baggage guide allows up to two checked items per passenger, each within 50 × 60 × 120 cm and 30 kg. It says buying an extra ticket does not allow extra luggage. Passports, valuables and mobile batteries should stay with you in the cabin. These are that operator’s rules; confirm the operator and restrictions for your chosen service. Official baggage guide (PDF).
Count the bags you expect to have at the end of your trip, too. A shopping suitcase can change the return journey even when arrival looks straightforward.
ROUTE 03 / TIMING FIRST
Landing late? Make the arrival plan before booking
Do not use your aircraft’s landing time as your bus boarding time. Immigration, baggage collection and the walk to the bus stop all come in between. A hotel’s airport bus listing does not mean it has an all-night service.
- Match the airport and terminal.Open the airport-to-hotel timetable, not the hotel-to-airport version.
- Find a realistic departure.Leave room for arrival formalities and check the ticket’s change or missed-departure rules.
- Read the actual destination.Hotel entrance, Busta and a station-area stop are different endpoints.
- Save a fallback. If the bus does not fit, compare the available train route or a taxi for your arrival time. Confirm late check-in with the hotel if needed.
Arriving before your room is ready? Check our guide to Shinjuku hotel luggage storage before check-in and after check-out.
For a morning flight home, repeat this process in reverse. Check the first usable airport-bound service and the airline’s required arrival time before assuming your arrival route works for departure.
Airport arrival questions
Should I book the hotel or the airport bus first?
Check both together. First confirm that a workable transfer exists, then compare the room’s cancellation terms and the bus ticket conditions. A useful hotel location should still work with your backup arrival plan.
Is a direct bus always the quickest option?
It can reduce luggage handling, but “direct” does not promise the shortest total journey. Compare the wait after your flight, the published travel estimate and the final walk. Leave flexibility for traffic.
Does easy airport access mean the room fits my luggage?
No. Access and room layout solve different problems. Before booking, check the exact room category, bed arrangement and floor plan. A smooth arrival is only the first part of the stay. See our guide to Shinjuku hotels for two large suitcases to compare the room side of your decision.
