Ubuya vs Konansou: Which Room Should You Book?

Choosing between Ubuya and Konansou? Start with what you want from the room: a view of Mount Fuji across the lake, natural hot-spring water in your own bath, or dinner without leaving your room.

Quick answer: choose by your priority

Our pick for the lake-and-Fuji setting: Ubuya.
Its official room guide says every guest room faces Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. Select an open-air-bath category if a private outdoor soak is part of your plan. [1]

Our pick for natural hot-spring water in the room: Konansou.
The official Type G, D and E pages explicitly confirm natural hot-spring water. Choose the Fuji side deliberately; a lake-side room is a different product. [3] [4] [5]

Private bath ≠ natural hot spring

Ubuya’s guest-room baths do not use hot-spring water, according to its FAQ. Genuine hot-spring bathing is available in its shared Fuji no Yu baths. [2]

For a fair price comparison, search the same dates and party, then match the bath, beds, meal inclusions and cancellation terms. A cheaper room without a private bath is not an equivalent alternative to a private-bath suite.

Choose Ubuya when the lake-and-Fuji view comes first

Ubuya · Agoda/A8 gallery photo. Check the selected room’s own photos; this image is not mapped to a particular category.

We would choose Ubuya for a stay centered on lake-and-Fuji scenery. Compare its room upgrades by space and private-bath access. [1]

Which Ubuya room should you compare?
  • Standard with private open-air bath: 59m², two beds, published occupancy 2–4. Start here for a couple wanting the private-bath experience.
  • Superior with private open-air bath: 71m², two beds, occupancy 2–6. Consider it when extra space or a larger party matters.
  • Japanese style with 2 western beds: 46m², occupancy 2–4. Listed outside the private-open-air-bath group.

Capacity is not bed count. For three or more guests, confirm the additional sleeping arrangements. Match the category to the official room guide. [1]

Choose Ubuya for a private scenic bath if the water source does not matter to you. If private natural hot-spring water is a requirement, compare Konansou instead. Our Ubuya bath guide explains the distinction in more detail.

Choose Konansou for a Fuji-view private hot spring

Konansou · Agoda/A8 gallery photo. Exact Type G, D or E mapping is not established by this image.

Konansou is our preferred starting point when your requirement is Mount Fuji, privacy and natural hot-spring water in the same guest-room bath. Its Type G, D and E pages now explicitly identify the water source. You still need to reserve the matching room, rather than any room at the hotel. [3] [4] [5]

Type G · Japanese-style layout

60m² · 1–4 guests · Fuji side · private natural hot spring.

The official page describes a seventh-floor corner room with mountain views from its windows and open-air bath. Choose this layout if you want a Japanese-style stay. For fixed Western beds, compare Type D. [3]

Type D · Our shortlist for two guests with beds

80m² · 1–4 guests · Fuji side · private natural hot spring.

It combines a tatami area with two 140cm-wide beds. Our recommendation is to compare Ubuya Standard or Superior against Konansou Type D when you want beds and a private outdoor bath. This makes the view and water-source tradeoff clear. [4]

Type E · More space

102m² · 1–4 guests · Fuji side · private natural hot spring.

Type E adds a larger tatami area and retains two 140cm-wide beds. The upgrade buys space; it does not guarantee better weather or additional fixed beds for everyone in a four-person party. [5]

A Konansou lake-side room should be considered separately. See our Fuji-side vs lake-side room guide before accepting a lake-view alternative.

Want dinner in the room? Check the plan at Konansou

Ubuya serves dinner and breakfast in its dining halls. Konansou offers in-room dinner plans for dining parties of up to four; five or more dine in a separate venue. [2] [6]

Konansou is the better candidate for this request, but do not infer the meal venue from the hotel name. Its cuisine page describes room-dining plans, while its FAQ says guests generally cannot choose between the room and private restaurant. Obtain confirmation for the exact rate you intend to book. [6] [7]

If you need chairs rather than floor seating, Konansou directs that meal to a private banquet-hall room and requests advance contact. That may be the more comfortable choice, but it changes the in-room-dinner experience. [6]

Dinner-plan arrival deadline

Keep arrival practical: Konansou’s cuisine page requires dinner-plan guests to check in by 6 p.m. Ubuya lists check-in until 6 p.m. and a final dinner seating at 7 p.m. [6] [2]

Which one offers better value?

There is no useful universal price winner. Availability, dates and room categories can change the comparison. We would shortlist by the experience first:

  • Lake-and-Fuji scenery, plus private bathing: compare Ubuya Standard and Superior.
  • Fuji-view natural hot spring and beds: compare Konansou Type D, then Type E if you want more space.
  • Fuji-view natural hot spring and a Japanese-style layout: compare Konansou Type G.
  • Dinner served in your room: request confirmation of a suitable Konansou room-dining plan.

If the preferred category is unavailable, change one requirement deliberately. Do not book another room assuming the hotel-level photos guarantee the same bath, view or bedding. Our Kawaguchiko private-onsen room comparison provides other properties to investigate.

Before booking: keep these five details together

STEP
Enter the full party

Enter the full party. Include children’s ages and check the actual sleeping arrangements.

STEP
Save the exact room name

Save the complete room name. Ubuya’s bath category or Konansou’s Type letter matters more than a generic “Fuji view” label.

STEP
Match photos to the room

Check that room’s photos and specifications. Property-gallery images may show a different category or shared facility.

STEP
Confirm the meal plan

Read the meal plan. Check dinner inclusion, venue and arrival deadline separately from room amenities.

STEP
Compare total and cancellation

Compare the payable total and cancellation terms. Use equivalent inclusions and keep a copy of the final conditions.
