A hotel with laundry sounds like an easy choice for a Hokkaido trip. At Tokyu Stay Hakodate-Asaichi Akari-no-Yu, the harder decision is which room to book: a compact room, extra space, or your own hot spring bath.
The useful distinction: you do not need the most expensive room just to get a washer-dryer. The Luxury Twin is the private-onsen choice, while the Corner Twin accommodates more people.

Start with your party size
The official room page lists washer-dryers across the categories below. Its room-specific capacity figures are more useful than general descriptions of the hotel.
| Room | Space, capacity and reason to choose it |
|---|---|
| Comfort Double | 16 m² · 2 guests. Laundry without a space-focused upgrade. |
| Standard Twin | 19 m² · 2 guests. Twin beds and a kitchenette. |
| Corner Twin | 33 m² · 2–3 guests. Kitchenette; separate bath and toilet. |
| Luxury Twin | 34 m² · 2 guests. Kitchenette and a private semi-open-air hot spring bath. |
| Universal Room | 35 m² · 2–4 guests. Accessible category; confirm availability and sleeping arrangements. |

Private onsen or shared rooftop bath?

Choose Luxury Twin when bathing privately is the point of the stay. Its listed capacity is two, despite being slightly larger than Corner Twin. An upgrade in room price or floor area does not automatically mean an extra guest can stay.
Choose Corner Twin when space for three matters more. It is not listed with the Luxury Twin’s private hot spring bath. Check how the third sleeping place is provided before paying.
The hotel also has a gender-separated communal onsen with open-air baths on the 18th floor. That gives guests a bathing option beyond their own room, but it is a different experience from a private bath. Check current rules and hours with the hotel if communal bathing is unfamiliar.
Make laundry fit your itinerary
For a short stay, treat the washer-dryer as a practical stop between travel days. Plan a load before your final evening rather than leaving all your clothes until checkout morning.
Do not assume a drying time or machine capacity from the room listing. Follow the appliance instructions, leave time for a second cycle, and keep one outfit outside the wash. A larger room does not establish that its washing machine is larger.
Breakfast means going to the morning market
The hotel’s breakfast arrangement uses partner shops at Hakodate Morning Market, approximately a minute’s walk away. It is not a conventional breakfast buffet inside the hotel. Opening hours and eligible menus vary by shop.
That can suit travelers who want a market meal. For an early departure or picky eaters, compare a room-only rate with the breakfast plan before booking. Check the actual ticket conditions rather than assuming every market stall participates.
Before you pay
- Enter every guest’s age and check the exact room name.
- Confirm bed arrangements, breakfast inclusion and cancellation terms.
- If a private onsen is essential, require that feature in your booked room description.
