A few hours of sightseeing after checkout and a three-night trip outside Tokyo need different luggage arrangements. Before choosing a hotel, decide when you will leave your bags, when you will collect them, and whether you will stay at that same property again.

This guide focuses on those practical details. A hotel listing that says “luggage storage” does not, by itself, answer how long your bags can stay.

Which policy fits your itinerary?

For hotel guests. Published policies are summarized below; confirm your specific dates and bag count before relying on extended storage.
Hotel On checkout day Between stays / longer storage
Hotel Century Southern Tower Available Explicit return-stay exception for a few days
MIMARU Tokyo Shinjuku West Free, 07:00–22:00 Chain FAQ lists ¥500 per bag/day outside the free window; space dependent
Tokyu Stay Shinjuku Eastside Available under chain FAQ Not confirmed in the published FAQ

Three options, with different conditions

For a short trip between two stays

The hotel’s FAQ allows bags to remain until your next check-in if you return a few days after checkout. Otherwise, post-checkout storage is limited to departure day. Bags are handled at the 20th-floor reception; a booking must be confirmed for pre-check-in storage.

Confirm the gapThe FAQ gives no exact maximum for “a few days.” Send both reservation dates and ask whether your gap is accepted. The hotel does not offer storage to people who are not staying.

MIMARU Tokyo Shinjuku West

MIMARU’s chain FAQ gives a free storage window of 07:00–22:00 on check-in and checkout days. Storage outside those days or hours is listed at ¥500 per bag per day, subject to available space.

For illustration, two bags charged for three days would total ¥3,000. Ask Shinjuku West how it will count your actual drop-off and collection dates.

Space must be confirmedA listed fee does not reserve storage. Ask the property to accept your bags before building the trip around this option.

For sightseeing on departure day

Tokyu Stay Shinjuku Eastside

Tokyu Stay’s chain FAQ confirms storage before check-in and during the day of checkout. That makes Eastside a candidate when you want to leave your bags while spending a final afternoon in Tokyo.

The same FAQ does not confirm several nights of storage between bookings. Ask Eastside directly if that is your plan.

Sending bags ahead is a separate serviceThe chain accepts advance luggage marked with your name and check-in date, but not cash-on-delivery or recipient-billed shipments. It also handles outgoing Yamato parcels at reception. Confirm the destination and delivery date before sending.

Choose Eastside for the stay itself; confirm any storage beyond departure day.

Write down the handover dates first

  1. Returning to the same property?Example: check out Monday, spend three nights elsewhere, and check back in Thursday. Ask for storage covering the entire gap, with both reservations included.
  2. Moving on to a different hotel?Ask about forwarding rather than assuming you can leave bags behind indefinitely. Obtain the receiving hotel’s agreement, an arrival date, and a delivery quote before handing anything over.
  3. Only exploring for a few hours?Give reception your collection time. Leave enough time to collect your bags and travel onward; a stored suitcase still needs to be picked up.

Keep your passport, medication, payment cards and anything needed during the side trip in your day bag. Pack it before approaching reception so you are ready to leave the larger case.

A message you can adapt

Replace the brackets with your itinerary. If you have not booked yet, say that clearly rather than supplying a reservation number.

Hello, we plan to stay at your hotel from [date] to [date], then return from [date] to [date]. Could you store [number] suitcases, approximately [dimensions] each, between the two stays? We would drop them off at [time/date] and collect them at [time/date]. Please confirm availability, the total charge, any restrictions, and whether both reservations must be confirmed. Thank you.

Save the hotel’s reply with your travel plans. A specific answer covering dates, bag count and charges is more useful than a general confirmation that luggage storage exists.

Before you finalize the plan

Does a return booking automatically secure luggage storage?

Send the request explicitly and retain the reply. Accommodation and the arrangements for bags are two details to confirm separately.

What if I change my return hotel?

Tell the original hotel and ask for a revised collection arrangement. Do this before departure rather than assuming the old agreement still covers the changed trip.

Do these photos show the luggage-storage area?

No. They are property photographs supplied through Agoda affiliate image links. They do not show storage capacity or prove that your request has been accepted.

Choose around your route: settle the drop-off and collection plan first, then compare the hotel, room and cancellation terms for your dates.

Plan your arrival and room space

If you will arrive with bulky luggage, compare Shinjuku hotels for airport arrivals with large luggage alongside the storage policy. For the bags you keep upstairs, see our room comparison for two large suitcases.

Sources and scope

The shortlist starts from our Shinjuku hotel research database. The three official FAQs linked above were checked on September 20, 2026. MIMARU and Tokyu Stay information is chain-level guidance; Southern Tower publishes a property-specific FAQ.

This is a researched planning guide, not a personal test of luggage services. Storage capacity and acceptance for your itinerary have not been reserved. Agoda links open hotel pages and do not book luggage storage.
